Husqvarna 450 X-Torq Gas Powered Chainsaw Review
The Husqvarna 450 chainsaw is a medium-sized workhorse that I can find very little negative to complain about. As most experienced users know, Stihl and Husqvarna are the class of the field when it comes to chainsaws for both residential and commercial use.
Stihl saws are only sold through local dealers, as well as the Stihl parts, so acquiring these chainsaws can be a bit more complicated. I believe this Husqvarna 450 will stack up cut-for-cut with comparable Stihl models.
The 450 has a 50.2cc, 3.2 horsepower, 2-cycle engine that is really powerful for a medium-sized, residential grade chainsaw. The X-Torq engine technology substantially reduces emissions and makes the 450 much more fuel efficient.
The 450 comes with an 18” bar, however you can add a 20” bar if you prefer for lengthier cutting ability. Most homeowners without serious cutting needs will be more than satisfied with the stock 18” bar.
A lot of these residential grade gas-powered saws can be a little tough to start, however the 450 comes with the smart start technology, which reduces the pull resistance necessary to engage the engine by 40%. Furthermore, the combined choke/stop control feature makes for easier starting and a reduced risk of engine flooding.
If you do not know what you are doing starting a chainsaw, flooding the engine will become a frequent problem. This saw is much less apt to flooding because of the combined choke/stop control.
Also, the 450 is really, really lightweight at 11.33lbs. The lightweight body and the reduced vibration dampener provide a much more comfortable working experience than many similar models in this class.
